Why M43 cameras has change my photos

I have been shooting photos for a while I picked up my first SLR back in 2004 a good ol’ Pentax MZ-50. I started shooting action. Here are some images I managed to find on my old www.pinkbike.com profile.

When I enter College I managed to pick up a Canon Rebel XT. I started shooting more due to digital was cheaper to shoot and instate photo developing. I shot lots. Learned lots. I have owned lots of camera gear from 2004 till now 2015. Rufly around 10 camera bodies and lots of lens. But nothing really stuck and mad me want to bring these heavy large bodies and lenses with me all the time. Then in February 2015 an Olympus camera showed up in my Facebook feed. The OM-D EM 5 MKII. See my past blog about the switch.

This camera is awesome. I have been taking it with me on every bike ride and it has been changing the way I shoot.

Prints for a Cure

Hello my friends, clients and followers: Cancer is never a fun thing to talk about, but it affects everyone on this little planet of ours. Whether you’re personally battling the disease or have lost a friend or family member to it, we all are affected in some way, shape or form. Unfortunately, my dear friend Aubrey knows all too well how hard it can it be and I want to help her out. I’m looking to you all to spread some love. Aubrey’s boyfriend, Jeff Harker, lost his father, Jim, to esophageal cancer in February of this year (sadly, only 4 days before his 35th wedding anniversary with his wife, Karen). As I too have lost many family members to cancer, I want to do my part in helping the Harker family celebrate Jim’s legacy. Spending time outdoors and with family was something extremely important to Jim and thus, in his honour, Aubrey and the Harker family will be participating in the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer on August 9-10, 2014. Jeff, his mom (Karen), two sisters (Leslie and Karly), Leslie’s husband (Matt Hanlon) and Aubrey will ride together as “Team Jim”. They will be riding road bikes 200km through the Rockies and funds raised will go to cancer research, education and support for other families facing a similar struggle. Each member of “Team Jim” must raise at least $2500 each to participate in the ride and I want to see everyone ride this year! What I am doing to help is selling prints and a percentage of the sales are going to Aubrey to help her raise money. I have 9 Southern Alberta landscapes that I have taken over the last few years.

Why pay full price when you can get the same thing for less.

As a full time photographer I spend a lot of money on equipment. I am also a gear head so I have lots of little thing nic nac’s that help me with my job. One little piece of gear I now love is my  “Q” Strap. Or if you payed full price the “R” Strap.

I have always hated the stock camera straps that come with your DLSR body’s. They are more in your way then really helping you.

I had a “R: Stap given to me from a friend because he up grade to the new “R” Strap. After the wedding season was over this year i missed placed it. So it to buy a new one. I wasn’t about to go spend $53.95 plus s&h for a new one. So I went to my trusty site http://www.dealextreme.com/ and found the same thing with a better camera braket.

Here is the Brake down:

R strap from black Rapid $53.95

The RS-4’s smart design is lightweight and low profile. It features a quick access, secure pocket for storing two extra memory cards in their protective cases. Like all R-Straps, the RS-4 is incredibly comfortable and quick on the draw.

Quick Strap Shoulder Strap for SLR/DSLR Cameras

Q strap $16.60 + free shipping

Catching funny pictures is great as long as they are not of you. Often times pictures are taken at the most inopportune time, leaving you with that awful look on your face, or catching a picture of you when you fall down and make a fool of yourself and so on. Now it is time for revenge, always be ready for those payback shots of your friends clowning around with this handy shoulder strap. No more sore neck from holding that SLR camera. This sturdy shoulder strap is made of high quality materials for an ultra long lasting life. Be sure to be ready to catch those candid shots today.

– Material: polyester
– Ideal for carrying your digital camera
– Stylish and comfortable padded design reduces carrying stress to the neck

Pros and Cons

Both straps do the same thing. They are made with the same design and the same material.

The on thing I like more about the “Q” strap over the “R” strap is the camera mount. Its clean, smooth and out of the way.

More gear head stuf to come in the new year.

Christmas 2009

Melissa and I went up near Edmonton to visit her family for christmas. Here is not much to do in a town with a population of under 500 I’, not lying maybe even under 300. It was really cold but it was great to see the family. We went for a little walk so i took out the camera with me. Again there is nothing here so I only got a few Photos.

Great weekend of photos

Well, This weekend was really busy for photo shoots. Started out 2 E-session witch will be up later one due to there all at the studio, some Great Mustache March Photos, and a model shoot in calgary. Here are some frame from the Mustache shoot and the model shoot.

A RAW take on things with night Photography

I went out last night with a bunch of fellow photographers to shoot some star trails, but the clouds wanted to hang out. So I did a RAW take on thing all the images have little to no correction to them, I just did a white balance correction to each image. These images are shot on a Nikon D300 with 14-24 2.8 at a iso of 200 – 3200 at a 2.8 F/ with different shutter speeds. It was fun and a tiny bit cold.
